Maruti Suzuki India Limited (Formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited) is a Indian car           manufacturer. It shared a joint venture with the Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturer  Suzuki Motor Corporation.

        The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which is previously known as Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is a      subcompact sedan. It is primarily made for Indian buyers which is disclosed in the Indian market in 2008. Apart from all models, Swift Dzire tour S is the version made for only commercial use.

• Source of the Name : The word 'Swift' comes from a bird named Swift which is usually so fast and the word Swift also suggest the same. On the other hand, 'Dzire' suggest the stubborn, determined nature. So, it can be said the name 'Swift Dzire' probably derived from these two word.

                                                              Specifications 

Let us now discuss about the specifications of one of the most bought subcompact sedan -

• Engines: The top variant which is ZDI PLUS AMT powered by a 1.3 litre (1248cc) 4 cylinder inline motor which produces 74 bhp at almost 4000 RPM. The torque it generates is almost 190 Nm at 2000 RPM. The base variant VXI is powered by a 1197cc inline 4 cylinder engine which produces 82 bhp at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque.
   There is another base variant come into play that is mostly used in commercial sector named as Swift Dzire tour S is powered by a diesel engine of 1.2 litre and it produces the same 74 Bhp and 190 Nm of torque.
• Mileage : The ARAI certified mileage claims almost 28.4 km/litre but that is literally on papers. In reality it will give almost 14-16 km/litre in city conditions and 18-22 even 24 km/litre in the highway.
• Drivetrain and Transmission :  All the models of Dzire are powered by a front wheel drivetrain and some of the models such as ZDI PLUS, ZXI PLUS got Automatic Transmission (AMT).
• Dimension and Weight : The length of the car is almost 4 m (3995 mm), the width is 1735 mm and the height is 1515 mm. It has a ground clearance of 163 mm.  The kerb weight of the car is almost 990 kg - 1045 kg.
• Bootspace and Capacity :  It has a 378 litre bootspace with a fuel tank capacity of 37-42 litre.
• Brakes : Front brakes are powered by ventilated disc brakes and the rear is powered by drum brakes.
• Suspension : There are MacPherson Strut suspension in the front and Torsion Beam suspension at the rear which offers a decent comfort.
• Wheels : The two tone alloys present in the car give a decent look all through. However, not all the model gets alloy as standard.
                 The dimension of tyre of the top variant is 185/65/R15 (means a 15 inch tyre) and 14 inches for the base commercial variant.
• Colours :  There are many colour option available with the top model such as,
                    Blue, Brown, Grey, Red, Silver and White.
                    While the base commercial variant only comes with a white colour.
